When we arrived at this community Victor explained to us the history. 2 years ago there was a huge flood that wiped out a lot of houses and killed several. This community was built by the Canadian’s and houses the families and children that survived the flood. We were to spend our time there praying with people or playing with the kids. Hugh, Misty and I started walking and we stopped at the first family we came across. Little did I know at that very moment how much of an impact this family would have on my entire month in El Salvador.

They invited us into their house and as we sat there, Hector, in his perfect English, shared with us his struggles. We were able to pray for him and his family. Such a powerful moment! As we left, I wondered if we would see them again. The following Sunday at church, sitting just 2 rows back was Hector and his family! Praise God!! We were able to spend some time talking to him after church.

The following week we went back to their community. I sat in the field talking with a few from my team and Hector, his wife and beautiful little girl. His son Diego played soccer with the others. It was such an awesome moment, a moment I sat there and thought “wow this is my life!” The sun was setting, the breeze was cooling off the hot afternoon air, kids laughter in the background, a soccer game Gringos vs. Salvadorians, and my new friends and I having great conversation. Later in the evening Hector translated Jill’s testimony. He had shared with us his desire to be a translator so as I sat there watching him translate was so awesome. Watching the desires of his heart unfold right before me. Diego later came up to me and gave me his bracelet and I gave him one of mine. “Amigos para siempre” I told him.

The following Sunday they were at church again. It’s amazing being able to see them reach out and get into church. I feel so blessed that I have been able to meet them and get to know them this month. Such a beautiful family! Please partner with me in prayer for Hector and his family. Pray that he can overcome his struggles, pray for provision, and pray that they keep their eyes on Christ and never turn away.

I’ve learned that on the race sometimes you plant the seeds, sometimes you water, and sometimes you harvest.
You may not always know the outcome and sometimes you may not know where they came from. It was such a blessing to be able to plant the seed, water it, and watch it begin to bloom. Our God is such an awesome God and He is always moving whether we see it or not. Thank God I was able to see a little more into His works this time around.
