So have you ever been walking right towards someone who was walking right towards you? When you finally are face to face with them, you step to your right and so do they, you step to your left and so do they. You know that little awkward dance I’m talking about right? It usually continues until one person gives up and stands still. Well that happened to me today but instead of face to face he was coming behind me, on a bike and neither of us stood still.

I was headed to the orphanage for ministry walking along a dirt road minding my own business, deep in thought at the back of the group of us walking together. I hear a bell ring and look over my shoulder to see a guy on a bike headed for me so I step to my right just as he steers to the right, so I step to the left just as he steers to the left. After what seemed like the quickest, longest awkward dance, him getting closer and closer by the second, his bike tire hit me right in the legs causing me to flip up in the air knocking him and his bike over as I rolled over and fell into a ditch almost 3 feet deep. I open my eyes and as the cloud of dust settles all I see is 11 people staring over the edge at me asking if I was ok. The guy who hit me grabbed my hand and pulled me out. Continuing to shake my hand I’m guessing he was saying “sorry”…a word I haven’t learned yet in Swahili.

So this is my story of how I got thrown into a ditch. Welcome to The World Race…where stories are crazy like “I was walking down a dirt road, got hit by a bike and thrown into a ditch…”
