I am officially a world racer! Month número uno has already been chock full of fun adventures and awesome team building in the beautiful Puerto Rico.

This month Hijas Del Rey is living with team Crisco (yes, as in the tub of lard you use for baking) and we are having a blast together!

Today is a Puerto Rican holiday celebrating the birthday of the Puerto Rican philosopher Eugenio María de Hostos. Because of the holiday, we begin ministry tomorrow working with Christo Pobre, a local soup kitchen in Ponce.

I am so excited to start ministry. Maybe it will make the race seem more real to me. It’s hard to wrap my head around something as big as God’s plan.

At launch, they told 200 plus racers that our worlds are going to be “wrecked” this year. Our understanding of the world will be flipped around and turned inside out. We will question what
is truly closest to our hearts. There will be times that we will ask ourselves why we ever came on this journey to begin with. Our hearts will break and be filled with joy. God will be pushing, pulling and stretching us out of our comfort zones.

Ultimately,we will be leaving pieces of our hearts in cities and in villages; from the mountains to the sea throughout this venture.

I know in my heart of hearts that we will fall in love with the people we meet and the places we visit. Those that we set out to help, will be doing more for our hearts than we can imagine.

Keep us in your prayers!

Genesis 28:20 -22
Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father’s household, then the Lord will be my God and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house,
and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.”
