In the past month or so I’ve been thinking of the little things that I will miss while I am out of the country. Of course I will be missing my friends and family, that goes without saying. What about all of the little comforts that as a privledged North American I indulge myself in? Here’s some of the little things that I hold dear to my heart:

1. Pizza and beer.

There is just something about this simplistic, classic combo that makes my heart (and stomache) rejoice. It is definatley a gift from above

2. Hockey

The only thing that can make a date with a steaming hot pizza and a cold one better is watching a hockey game while eating a steaming hot pizza and drinking a cold one.

3. The Olympics

When I realized I would be missing the 2014 Winter Olympics I nearly cried. Almost. I have always loved watching the world come together and compete in the name of their country. Watching the athletes’ dream of going to the Olympics come true in HD has a special place in my heart.

4. Privacy

As I am writing this post I have been sitting in my bedroom, relishing in my lonesome, for 90% of the day. I suppose I am getting as much alone time as I can before I go. On The Race, there is no such thing as privacy. For the safety of the Racers, no one is allowed to be alone. EVER. I am looking forward to learning this new concept.

5. Target

I swear the Devil lives at Target. Around every corner I turn I am tempted to buy something I dont need. But I still love it.

6. Sushi

This girl can eat sushi like there’s no tomorrow.

7. My bed.

At home I have a cozy double bed all to myself. On the race I will be sleeping on an extremly over priced pool raft. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

8. Air conditioning

Currently it is about 16 degrees in New Jersey. It is an understatement to say that I cannot wait to be in the warm weather of Latin America. HOWEVER, as we move closer to the equator I will miss air conditioning (muy much)

9.Oreos and Peanut Butter

Ever since I saw The Parent Trap (the Lindsay Lohan version) as a little girl I have been hooked on Oreos slathered with peanut butter….mmmmmm

10. My Truck

It is safe to say that I am in love with my truck “Big Red”. She’s a beaut and we’ve been through a lot together. Thanks for always being there for me Red. You will be missed.

There you have it. So stoked to be challenged this year!

I got my ticket for the long way round. One with the prettiest of views 😉
