I just send this letter out to my family and was encouraged by one of my teammates to make it public.I suddenly experienced an extreme heavy burden for my family and them not knowing Jesus. So I knew it was time to change that.
To my amazing family,
I am sitting here at a coffee shop in Thailand with tears in my eyes, trying to write you this email.
It is crazy how God sometimes speaks to you in the weirdest ways but I know that I have to write you even though you might think I am completely nuts or crazy.
As you might already know God has completely turned my life upside down. The Jenny that used to be doesn’t exist anymore. The girl that chased after boys, was obsessed with make up or food or many other things has finally found what she was looking for her whole life.
It is amazing how we can run after money, the perfect place to live,the next vacation, the perfect job or body and still never be satisfied with what we have. We are all always searching for something, thinking if we have this or find that happiness will finally come. But it only lasts for a little bit. It is also interesting how we try to run away from pain, problems or circumstances, sometimes even numbing it with sex, alcohol or a new adventure but really never deal with the root of the issue.
We run, we hide and realize that we still never get to a perfect place of peace. Cause there is always something missing.
And that missing piece is God!
You were all created by God and for God, He knew you before you were even in your Mamas bellies. If there wasn’t a God then why would we even be alive? Are we just here by chance, just some random clump of flesh and bones that is just kinda existing? Are we just here to grow up, make money, get married, make babies and die one day?
What is the point!
Don’t you think the way we were created was for a way bigger purpose?
I know those are some big questions, but I encourage you to search for the Truth.
The God that I know has nothing to do with religion. He has nothing to do with old church buildings or rules. Religion class did a terrible job on describing God, so does the church a lot of times. So many of the things we believe today are completely made up, man made lies. Nothing of that is written in the bible. Jesus actually argued a lot with the religious leaders and hated religion. He just wants to know you, because He made you and loves you! You are His priced possession.
So as you know I am currently traveling the world to tell everyone about this awesome God who changed my life.
And I have been reminded a lot lately that I never truly explained to you why He is so awesome and what those “Good News” are all about. You are the people that know me the longest and sometimes that is why it is the hardest to make you understand what happened to me.
So let me try to explain.
As I started doing my own “research” on God and started reading the bible, something crazy happened. All of the sudden, everything in this world and in my life made sense to me.
Human kind was created by God. The first human creation was Adam and Eve. God made them in His image, meaning He created them to be loving and kind and caring. Loving each other, have lots of babies and love other people as much as they love themselves. They were able to talk to God whenever they wanted and they never worried or were sad, basically it was a perfect world. God told them they can eat everything they wanted besides from the “tree of knowledge of good and evil.” But than the evil one tempted Eve and told her she will be as powerful as God if she eats from the tree, so she did. God gave humans free will, it was her choice to choose to eat from the tree and so did Adam. That was the beginning of sin, the beginning of the fall. Suddenly the perfect world wasn’t perfect anymore, because the first humans disobeyed God. They wanted to do their own thing, kinda like we see everywhere today.
“For we all have sinned, we all fall short of Gods glorious standard.”
Romans 3:23
After that humanity went crazy town. People hated each other, they were killing, raping, stealing, gossiping, cheating and doing all kinda things to each other. That is when God flooded the earth because He was sad that He ever created humans. But there was one faithful man Noah who God told to build an arch. God flooded the earth, destroying everyone besides Noah’s family. Btw ever wondered why there are rainbows? It’s Gods covenant to us that He will never flood the earth again. Pretty cool right!
Ok hang in there with me!
So sin continued to exist after the flood, so once a year people had to sacrifice an animal to make things right with God. Why? Because God is perfect and humans are not. We sin all the time, every day. I am sometimes the worst of them! So yeah no one is perfect. But in order to still be able to have a relationship with God they had to sacrifice an animal. Sounds bloody and gross I know, but the cool part is we don’t have to do that anymore.
Cause one day about 2015 years ago God came down to earth! How, I don’t know but He did! His name was Jesus! So basically it was God in human form. Jesus was fully God and fully human. Pretty freaky right! So God basically walked the earth, teaching his followers and his 12 disciples how to live life. And He loved so well! He loved the children, widows, tax collectors, thieves, murderers, prostitutes and everyone else people hated and religious people spit on. He loved everyone and forgave them for all their mistakes they have ever done. He could also relate to all of the things they went through, cause he was human like them but He was also God so He knew everything before they even opened up their mouth. He was the best thing that ever walked the earth.
The reason He came down to earth is to sacrifice Himself for all of us. So we don’t have to be afraid anymore or worry about bloody animals. He was the perfect, sinless sacrifice so we are perfect in Gods eyes. So all the pain and torture He endured that day and the pain He felt on that cross was for all the things we did wrong in the past,present and future. All of us, all humans are now perfect in Gods eyes but only if they accept Jesus as their personal Savior!
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who will believe in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16
Now you are maybe asking why you should even care about that! Well I hate to tell you this, but there is a life after you die and if you don’t know Jesus you will go to a horrible, dark and evil place. There will be no laughter, love and sunshine. The bible talks a lot about hell and maybe you don’t care what happens to you after you die but I DO care. Thinking about all of you and being so far away I am always scared to get that phone call that one of you might have past away and I will never forgive myself if I don’t tell you about Jesus and what He did for all of us.
This life on earth is just the beginning, there is more after we die. But if you reject God and His Love you will be forever lost.
All He ever really wanted is for you to accept Him, respect Him and thank Him. Cause if it wasn’t for Him, we wouldn’t even be here. And we would also all be doomed.
So the cool part about this whole Jesus thing is that you can’t earn his love. You don’t have to do anything or work for anything. You just have to accept Him as your Savior and truly mean it.
It’s not just a little prayer it’s something that will turn your life around if you truly mean it. It’s like you were blind your whole life and then suddenly you can see. Everything will make sense, everything will change.
God created you for so much more! You have so much potential to turn into incredible women and men of God!
So two hours later I am still sitting here, and praying that you will receive this message well. At least now you know about the gospel and the Love of Jesus. It is out of my control what you do with this news. You can accept or reject! You have free will. Just know that I pray for you and love you so much and I hope that my life will be a reflection of Jesus, not perfection but just a glimpse of what He has done in my life.
