Welcome to the first of my blog posts. I never would have guessed I would be a blogger.  I’m not sure I’m even qualified. I don’t spell very well and over use commas and punctuation often. Bare with me! Perhaps I gave you a card with my blog address, you may have heard about it from a friend, or maybe you just stumbled across it while surfing the web trying to avoid falling asleep at your desk. What ever the reason, I’m glad you are here. We are now in this together. Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog via the link on the left hand side, this way you can be notified when I have something to say. Typically, I would not recommend this but God is sending me on this amazing journey and I want you to be a part of it!

“What in the world are you going to be doing on this trip?” This is the question that I get asked most about “The Race.” Simply put, I will be traveling to 11 different countries and working with established ministries in authentic communities. My team and I will serve within these communities in whatever way they need us to. This can and will look different each month. We may work in an orphan ministry or with women who are involved in prostitution as a result of human trafficking. Manual labor also seems to be a common theme while on the race. We will most likely be working to improve facilities at homes, churches, and community centers. We will share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those we encounter along the way. In Matthew Chapter 25, Jesus calls us to go and serve his people. This trip is in no way a luxury trip. Those of you who know me best know that I am spoiled when it comes to traveling. I whine (a lot) when I don’t get First Class while flying on my United Airlines benefits. There will be none of this … Economy flights, third class trains and nights spent sleeping on overcrowded buses will be the norm. My little comfortable bubble is about to be burst.

On to the messy part, fundraising. This was my biggest fear when considering participating on the trip. This past week while traveling to Newark, New Jersey for a training class. I was sitting next to the window trying to process how my life is about to change. I started to pray and ask God how in the world I am going to pay off personal debt and raise enough money to meet my support deadlines. As I ended my prayer still completely overwhelmed, I looked out the window and there was the most amazing rainbow over lower Manhattan. WOW, in that moment I knew God’s promise was that he would take care of me. The most beautiful promise I’ve ever seen. I know God will take care of everything, I just need to have faith!

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the father. You may ask me for anything in my name and I will do it.
John 14: 12-14

In order to participate on this trip I must raise 16,500 dollars. This will cover all necessary expenses while I am out on the field. In the upper left hand corner of this page, there is a “SUPPORT ME!” link. You can make a single donation or pledge a particular amount on a monthly basis. If you would prefer to mail a check, you can find the address and instructions below. If you able to make a donation, it would be greatly appreciated. I cannot do this without your support.

Thanks for your continued prayers and support. Don’t forget to subscribe for my blog updates.

Until next time …

If you would like to send a donation by check, please send it to the address below:

Make sure you include my full name (Jeff Tyner) in the memo section of the check.
