Five months ago today, after settling down from the whirlwind of my first logistics assignment, I was sitting at gate B6 in the Washington Dulles Airport ready to depart on this crazy journey called the World Race.

The process …

Hear the Lord

Pretend I didn’t hear the Lord

Go on about my business

Hear from the Lord Again

Argue with HIM (well, it was a one-sided conservation)

Question my faith

Pray about it

Get upset

Ask God why

Give Up

Stalk some blogs

Say No Way

Pray about it

Say YES

Apply

Worry about it

Get Accepted

Pay Deposit

Write my own blog

Get Excited

Get Nervous

Write support letter

Oh wait … I have a job

Pray about it

Quit my job

Meet my financial deadline

Feel Peace

Get my job back

Get Excited

Work hard to save money

Spend all my money on gear

Work some more

Have a yard sale

Go to Training Camp

Get asked to be a Logistics Leader

What is that?

Get wrecked

Cry about it

Pray about it

Laugh about it

Thankful for it

Meet next deadline

Work some more

Eat Turkey

Spend all my money on gear

Cry about it

Pray about it

The Lord provides

Last day of work

Very excited about it

Start Packing

Happy Birthday Jesus

Pack some more

Say goodbye

Have party

Have another party

Have another party

Say goodbye

Cry alot about it

Get on the plane

Get excited

Get Nervous

Say Hello to 55 new members of my family

Smile about it

Never look back!

Now here I sit in a puddle of sweat in a non air-conditioned school building in Phnom Penh, Cambodia as a month 6 world racer. I cannot believe all that I experienced. Through the laughter, the tears, countless bug-bites and six kidney stones the Lord has shown me that his plan is better!

We are nearly half way through our journey. As crazy as it sounds, I wish it would slow down. I’m not sure I am ready for it to end. (Yes, I usually think way too far ahead)

Today, the word that best describes how I feel is Thankful.

I wait with joyful anticipation of what He has planned for me next.

I think the Lyrics to a Darryl Worley song says it best.

“I love this crazy tragic,

sometimes almost magic

awful beautiful life!”

I love this life!
