Description: C:Usersu267157Desktop40-days-40-nights.jpgThe number 40 holds particular significance in the Bible and refers to a precise number, not just a long period of time. There are at least ten instances in the Old Testament and New Testament where 40 occurs, either in years or days. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights. Moses was on the mountain 40 days and 40 nights. The Israelites wandered 40 years. Jesus fasted in the wilderness for 40 days and was seen on the earth for 40 days after His crucifixion.

A 40-something time period, whether days, months, or years is ALWAYS a period of testing or trial and ends with a period of restoration and renewal.Yesterday began a period of 40 days in my life; a period of time when I must prepare to leave my current way of life and leap into a new journey with God. Last night I wrote a pretty amazing blog (in my opinion of course) on this very topic. Today, day 39, I logged into my blogsite and the entire thing was lost. Let the trials begin! While that may not seem significant, it was extremely frustrating. Cramming all that needs to be done into the next 40 days seems impossible. It is a delicate balance between knowing that God will take care of everything and being a good steward of the time that God has provided.

My current way of life is predictable. I know what to expect and I am comfortable. All that is about to change … The next 40 days will prove to be the most challenging since beginning my World Race journey.

My first blog told a story of experiencing God’s most notable promise.  While flying into New York earlier this year, I was captivated by an amazing rainbow over lower Manhattan. The rainbow reminded me of Gods faithfulness. I felt the Lord speak to me that day. Holding on to those promises proves difficult when we are engulfed with our situations and challenges. God has never left us. His promises remain true and ALWAYS will.

Throughout this process, I have grown closer to God and His purpose and plan for my life is becoming clearer. At the end of these 40 days, I will begin my new life journey. I’m looking forward to DAY 1 of the REST OF MY LIFE.
