To say India has a homeless problem is an understatement.  Bangalore has 500,000 homeless people, yes 500,000 is a lot!  What is even worse is just how close to death a lot of the homeless people are here.  I mean huge open wounds and elderly people who are skin and bones just laid out in the gutter with flies covering their bodies.  What can one man do to change things?   Especially when he is just a poor man himself.  Especially in a cast system based society.  Especially when he is a rickshaw driver.  Rickshaw drivers are generally looked down upon as untrustworthy and corrupt.  T. Raja was a rickshaw driver to whom the Lord called to do something to change the world around him.  He drove past the homeless for years and one day he decided to pick up one who was near death.  In his rickshaw T. Raja took him home to let the beautiful homeless child of God die with dignity, kind of a homeless Hospice so to speak.  Today the Home of Hope houses 300 of these former homeless people.  It was an honor and a joy to go spend a few hours there with those people.  Because of the Lord working through T. Raja some people who would be dead are alive and well.  There are success stories where people lived, but also success stories of people dying with dignity.  Check out Angie’s video from her blog.
I am glad to be able to tell a story that you may not have heard before.  I am enjoying my time in India, but it has been difficult seeing the needs.  Pray for the work of the Home of Hope and all the other ministries here in India we have worked along side.   Campus ministry and a medical clinic in a “stone village” are just of few of the ministries we are working with this month.  Pray for all the idol worshiper and Hindus who dominate this country.   I have actually seen how devout the Hindus can be in worship, if only we could be as devoted in our worship to the TRUE GOD, JESUS CHRIST.
