Half way
I am half way through this life-changing thing called The World Race, and I am not the same person I was before I left. I have experienced so much life in these past 5.5 months. It is weird, but compared to the life in the states that I have experienced the past 5.5 months has seemed to go by at a slowed pace. Usually time going by slowly is equaled to time being bored, but the case is just the opposite. Each month has been so full of life that each month is like living a YEAR! I have been so encouraged, challenged, and stretched by each country that I really feel like it has been 5 years since I was in the states! Anyway, I thought I would blog some interesting “approximate” statistics. These statistics can only be refuted or confirmed by my fellow squad mates.
1) People who made a decision to follow Jesus while I happened to be blessed enough to be in their presence = (100+)
2) People who stated they were physically healed due to prayer while I happened to be in their presence = (10+)
3) People whom my teams and myself actually laid our hands on and prayed for healing, family stuff, money issues, and/or salvation matters = (100s maybe actually up to 1000ish)
4) People whom I personally laid hands on and prayed for who died that very same day = (2) Not all stats are good.
5) People who asked for money or food from me personally = (100s)
6) Children who yelled “Mzungu, How are You?” =(1000s)
7) People who responded to the word “hello” with “I am fine” =(1000s)
8) 8 flights, 8 countries (2 airport-only), 27 different beds (including 3 sleeper trains, 2 cement floor, 2 stays in my tent, but no including an overnight bus ride and 2 overnight plane rides), 30-to 40 bucket baths and that is skipping quite a few days of bathing, 40-50 trips to the squatty/hole in ground, 3 burns, 1 wedding, and a funeral.
I have been so blessed to have only been sick once. I have only had 2 pairs of pants stolen, and have yet to be threatened by anyone. Praise the Lord for this first half of The World Race, and I know the second half will be even better. Right now I just got back from doing a cell group at a local university here in Bangalore. We are having a blast doing campus ministry and we will be doing slum ministry also. I will keep you posted.
