After quite  the day in the airport we finally made it to the Dominican Republic.  It was a short flight from Fort Lauderdale down here to the island with an uneventful flight that I dont remember at all.  For some reason I have been blessed with the gift of falling asleep on planes…even before we took off I was knocked out and did not wake up until we started our  intial decent and even then I was in and out of conscienceness.

Traveling through customs with a group of 75 you think would be somewhat troublesome but things went without a hitch and passed right on through.  We stepped right outside into the Dominican sun and it just felt as though we were not in a foreign country…I think reality has yet to sink in that we are all here waiting for this adventure to take off.  We all loaded on an old school bus half of which was full of our gear and the other was the 50 or so of us crammed in the front half of the bus…and so the adventure begins…
After about a half hour or so on the bus which surpirsingly wasnt too bad in comparison with the bus ride from the airport to the campground for training in Georgia.  With the breeze in our hair we traveled along the beaten road and it started to take notice that we were indeed in a foreign country.  We traveled along with the blue ocean on our left , shabby looking businesses to the right, and the spuratic driving of Dominicans which reminds me much of Central America.
We arrived at the compound and to our surprise we have beds for the first few days and ceiling fans which Im sure we will be missing in the matter of a week or so…We must cherish our time with the artificial breeze and truly chill.
The road up until this point has definitley been a roller coaster and I welcome all the challenges that God has set before me because I know they will make me stronger in all aspects.
God is love.
