As a team we ventured into the city of Dublin on our day off during our squad’s time of debrief. Debrief consisted us meeting as a team with our squad leaders and coaches and they would just check with us to see how we were doing as a team. While there are 11 teams they can’t meet with us all at once, so a few teams had the day off and we ventured into Dublin forthe day. When we got into Dublin we all had one thing on our mind…Food. Most people wanted the traditional Irish food of fish and chips(french fries) while all I wanted was a big juicy hamburger. After a long walk we all found the food we were looking for and sat down to enjoy a nice meal together. After eating we all gathered in the yard of Christ Church and just relaxed for a bit before splitting up and exploring the city.
I was the first to leave the group…I was off to see St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The previous day I was out exploring the cityand was looking for St. Patricks, but after one wrong right turn I did not end up at St. Patrick’s rather I ended up
walking around in a giant circle. As I walked in this circle and asking people where St. Patrick’s was I had finally made it there andwhen I had got to the entrance they told me they had closed 10mins ago. The total day was not a loss because along my circular journey I came across a few other churches: St. Augustine and St. John’s and then a Carmelite Church, both of which were beautiful. Anyways I left the group and was off to see St. Patrick’s early in the day, so I did not run across the same problem of them closing. I explored St. Patrick’s and took many pictures just soaking in the richness of history that has taken place over the past 1000 years or so. After looking around for about an hour I ventured out to see what else I could find in the city.
I had seen a steeple in the skyline and I figured I would just head in that direction to check it out. As I walked I had passed by a building I walked passed the day before and there was something that intrigued me about this building. At first glance it didn’t look like a church, but as I looked closer there was a cross in front of the building. I walked through the gates almost hesitently I looked on the bulletin boards to find out what type of church this was, but to my success everything that was on the bulletin board was in Galic. I figured what the heck I will just open the doors and go inside the worst that could happen is they would just a
sk me to leave. As I entered into the church there was an easel with a poster board saying “Welcome to St. Audoen’s Catholic Church. Please be quiet Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is taking place” as I saw this sign and realized what was going on and who was present I had this feeling of overwelming joy and just wanted to jump up and down.
This was such a blessing to be able to sit in the presence of our Lord Jesus. What seemed only like 10 minutes was really over an hour, but an hour much needed in His presence, an hour of restoration, and an hour of soaking up His love. A few days prior I had been wanting to find a church in Dublin where Eucharistic Adoration was offered and I was going to look online, but it just kept slipping my mind. God knew what was on my heart. He knew what I needed. On that day in Dublin He definitely provided for me when I was not even expecting it and He continue to provide for me each day.
