Well, I’m in Africa.  And yes, it is hot.

After a fun evening of exploring the city of Doha, Qatar, we arrived safely at our ministry site on Tuesday afternoon.  We are now settled in at our house (Yes, we are blessed with a house this month!).  Our contacts, Louis and Erika are very nice and I look forward to working with them over the next month.

In our first week here, we helped close and clean the community center for the holidays and we did some work on the visitor’s house property.  Basically, we moved rocks, pulled weeds, and prepared an area for a cacti garden.  It is hard work but well worth the results.

We also had the chance to decorate for Christmas at the house we are staying in.  The decorations came from the center and we had a fun time decorating African style.  Below is our team Christmas picture.

As you may have noticed from the lack of blogs, we do not have internet this month.  So, my blogs and communication with you all will be slim at best.  We currently have to travel to an internet cafe to use the internet.  There is something freeing with having no access to the outside world.  Life becomes much simpler.

I am not sure when my next post will be, but when I do, I promise to post as many pictures as I can from the month and fill you in the best I can.

I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and enjoy the time you have with your families.  While you’re enjoying this holiday season, please feel free to throw up a Hail Mary prayer to God for a white Christmas here in Africa.  Hey, it’s worth a shot 🙂

There is just one last thing I would like to mention.  Two of my teammates, Allison and Olivia, are still in need of funding before the January 1st deadline.  Allison needs about $2,900 and Olivia needs about $2,000.  We are confident that God will come through but please prayerfully consider helping them reach their goal by clicking on their name above and then the support link on their blogs.

I look forward to telling you about my Christmas day in Africa in my next blog.  Rumor has it that we will be having a big bond fire and some South African BBQ.  Let’s just say that I can’t wait!!

Merry CHRISTmas!!!
