It is amazing how fast the previous months have flown by. It seems like it was yesterday when I was filling out my application for the race and waiting anxiously to see if I had been accepted. Since that time, I have attended training camp for the race, finished my final year of college, and have witnessed God working in many areas of my life. The last month has been filled with saying goodbyes and getting some final things in-order for my departure. I have also found out many details (which are a complete rarity for the Word Race) that I want to share with you.
The first thing is something that I have been waiting to post on my blog for quite some time. Assuming all of my monthly donors stay committed, I am now FULLY FUNDED!! It is amazing how God has provided for me and the fact that I am fully funded before launch is an extreme blessing and shows that I am where God wants me to be. After all, who thought raising $15,500 in 7 months was possible? Well, it happened and I want to thank everyone who decided to support me in this journey. If it wasn’t for you, I would not be able to share Christ throughout the nations and further His kingdom. You are all just as much a part of this journey as I am and I look forward to sharing stories with you throughout the year!
The next thing I want to share with you is our official launch date. I will be leaving Ohio on July 6th for Florida where I will stay for a week with some of my squad mates. We will then leave on July 13th for Quito, Ecuador for our first month of ministry. My team has been assigned to a village in the jungle called Huaticocha where we will be staying in a local church. It is located in the jungle and we can’t find it on any map! We will be working with an organization called Inca Link International. This ministry specializes in working in Huaticocha and doing such things as evangelism, visitation, and VBS. As is anything with the World Race, things are subject to change. All I can say is that I am SO excited!!
