The beautiful thing about being a Christian is the fact that we have direct access to the Father. Day in and day out, at all times, we are able to come to Him for any reason and He doesn’t turn us away. We know that Jesus came so that we could have everlasting life and John 17:3 says, “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” How great to know that God’s plan all along was for us to know Him.

The other day, my team and I had the opportunity to visit a remote village in the mountains of Mongolia. This village was about the size of a neighborhood with its biggest plot of land designated for temples and idols. As I stood among the idols, praying for the people, I was reminded of the idols the Israelites placed on every high place and the desperation God must feel when the people He loves so much do not know Him.

The next day, my team and I taught English at the school in town. While we were there, my teammate Matt spoke with one of the teenagers who was shocked to hear we were not Buddhist. She didn’t know you could be something else. She had never heard of Jesus.

I keep thinking about how much God loves everyone. Out of all the people in the world, we got to be with the those in a small village, in the mountains, in a country largely populated by nomadic people. A place no one would usually visit, but God brought us there for a specific purpose. He sees this village. He sees these people. He sees her.

The longer I’m on this trip, the more I see how God is constantly going out of His way to meet with people. He is always searching after the lost sheep. He’s not willing that ANY should perish, but that all would come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) I’m convinced that if we ask God to use us in His plan, he will point us to people wherever we are. It could be the person pumping gas next to you or your coworker who drives you insane, but God is always searching, always loving, always desperate for His people.

Who is God putting in front of you? Who is God asking you to take the time to know, to see, to share the hope within you?

Below is a video my teammate Kirsten made about our time in Mongolia. (Ignore the annoyed Jeannetta at the end!) Enjoy!
