We are living in the middle of the Daintree Rainforest. It has been referred to as a living museum,
which is very appropriate for the world’s oldest surviving rainforest. Many botanists believe that the Daintree
holds vital clues to the origins and dispersal of the world’s first flowering
plants. There are only 19 families of
these primitive angiosperms identified world wide and 13 are represented in the
Daintree (Facts taken from a textbook titled: “Tropical North Queensland”.)

We are working among the Kuku-yulanji Aborigines. We are helping with a morning playgroup for
preschool kids. Some parents come as
well so we are trying to develop relationships with the women. Starting next week, we will help coordinate
an after school program where we will help with homework, read books and play
sports with the school kids. I’m looking
forward to doing this. On Wednesday
nights, we participant in the women’s bible study and Sunday nights we have
church.    We are also helping with
cleaning up and organizing around the church and also making some fun craft
items for the playgroup, which I’m excited about since I love crafts!!

Here are some pictures of our backyard! Completely opposite of what most people think
Australia
looks like!
