On Saturday night, July 3rd, Brian Swanson and I
left Nairobi for a 16 hour bus ride to Mwanza, Tanzania. I still struggle to sleep during travel
so I spent most of the night reading, watching a movie and trying to sleep. The roads are very bumpy so when I
would start to drift off I would be jarred awake. There was one section that was extremely bumpy. Brian and I finally gave up on trying
to sleep and had a great conversation in the middle of the night!
Our teams met us at the bus station and my team had a huge
surprise for me. They informed me
that we were no longer staying in Tanzania, but we were going back to
Kenya! Apparently there were some miss-communication with the contact in Tanzania and after much prayers, everyone
felt that it was best for our team to move. The day I arrived, my team had been told we were going back
to Kenya.
Now we are in Kenya living in the
border town of Isebania. We are
partnering with a Deliverance Church and pastor Abraham is a good friend of
pastor Elijah, our pastor from last month in Kisumu. All of my teammates and I had a heart for Kenya and we were
so sad to leave. God knew that he
wasn’t finished with us in Kenya.

We are living in a home with a wonderful family. The parents are teachers and they have
two small children. We are sleeping
on mattresses on the floor and each of us has a mosquito net around our
mattress so we feel like we are in our tents! It’s kind of like summer camp! We are using a squatty potty this month and taking bucket
showers, but both are in door and kept very clean. The first time I took a bucket shower I don’t think I got
off all the soap!! I’m learning!
