The month of June found my team in Kenya, Africa.  This was my first time in Africa and
frankly I was really nervous and worried.
I had heard many horror stories about crowded buses with bad body odor
and live chickens.  That was not
something I was looking forward to and I kept praying for God to only give m
e
as much as I could handle!

My time in Kenya was completely opposite of what I was
expecting.  Our ministry was in
Kisumu, a small city in the Southwest corner of Kenya on the shores of Lake
Victoria, the second largest lake in the world.  A family in Kisumu heard about us and rented us a house with
real toilets, beds and r
unning water.
We were blessed!  We
partnered with Deliverance Church and it was incredible.  The young adult group instantly became
our new family.  Because I am on an
all women’s team, we always had guys with us to make sure we were safe.  They also cooked lunch and dinner for
us every day and the food was wonderful.
I did not enjoy the food in Asia so I was happy when I loved the food in
Kenya.  The weather was perfect as
well.  The last 4 months in
Australia and Asia was miserably hot so it was a huge relief for cooler
weather.

For ministry we preached a lot.  Every day we went to a few local schools to share about Christ.  There are no public schools in Kenya so
in order for a child to get an education, their parents much pay for them to
attend a private school.  Because
the schools are private, we were welcomed in to preach.  The students were very receptive of the
word of God.  It was so much fun
interacting with them and answering their questions about America.  It was such a blessing to be a part of
God’s work and through his words over 250 students gave their life to Christ.

We also had an opportunity to work at an orphanage one
morning.  The babies were so
precious.  Many of them have been
orphaned due to AIDS and some of them have the disease.

My team and I will be in Tanzania for the month of July then
Uganda in August.  Thank you so
much for all your prayers and support.
