My squad and I made it safely to New Zealand. I left Oklahoma
on Sunday morning and got here on Tuesday morning. With the time change and the 13 hour flight
we lost a full day!!
We are currently on the North Island
and will be here for this week doing some on site training. The internet is very limited here so this
will be my only communication for awhile. We are tent camping so I’ll get to really try out all of my equipment!! It actually gets quite cold at night so I’ll
even get to use my sleeping bag. I’m not
sure where I will be going after this week, but I know that I’ll be in New Zealand
until January 30th.
God has already been amazed me with his provision as I’ve
prepared for this trip but He showed up again in a huge way when I boarded the
plane to New Zealand. Let me explain….when I fly I always get an
isle seat. I do this because I’m a big
girl and if I’m not on the isle I’m taking up my seat and some of the seat of
the person next to me. If I’m on the
isle I can at least lean into the isle to provide some comfort for me and
whoever I’m next to. Well when I check
in for my 13 hour international flight I ask if I could have an isle seat and the
attendant told me I would need to change it at the gate because I was in a
center seat. When I got to the gate the attendant
told me he could change it but I would have to be in the very last row of the
plane and would be separated from my group. I didn’t want to be separated from my group so I decline the seat and
started praying that whoever was on the isle would trade seats with me. My teammate Kerry and I had the center seats
and it was crammed!! When I set down I was
wondering how I would ever survive such a long flight in that position. As the plane, the isle seat next to me
remained open. Finally the flight
attendant announced on the speaker that they were closing the doors to prepare
for takeoff and the seat was still empty!!! God provided!! Not only did I get
to move over to allow for more comfort but the seat between Kerry and I was empty
so we could both have more room!!! I
know that many churches were praying for me during their Sunday service and God
heard our prayers!!! God wants to meet
our needs regardless how big or small!!! He even gave me an isle seat!!!
Thank you for your continued prayers!! Here is a picture of my team (team Arete) at
our training site in New
Zealand!!
