World Race Style
The way of the World Race is to live cheaply and wisely with our monies. So, plane flights aren’t any different. The cheaper the flight the more layer over and flight changes. So if it is any indication of how long our travel route was in our journey from Africa to Central America then our flight purchase had to have been a great price!
We left Johannesburg, South Africa—Zurich, Switzerland(11hr flight)—six hour layover(for some)—Madrid, Spain(2 ½ hr flight)—25-30hr layover—Bogota, Columbia(11hr flight)—13 hr layover in airport—San Jose, Costa Rica(2 ½ hr flight)
We traveled 4 days—4 continents— 5 countries— 6 cities. I certainly call that a World Race!
Even though it may have been exhausting it was an amazing four days and certainly ordained. The twist in the schedule came when eight of us gals had a six hour layover in Switzerland while the rest of the team went directly to Madrid. For me, that certainly was an incredible blessing!! My friend Astrid is Swiss and it had been almost four years since I had seen her (she visited me in the States). So with email, the proposal to see her in Zurich on Monday was sent. The ordained part came when her holiday break from teaching occurred that Monday and she was able to meet us at the airport…from which she only lived fifteen minutes away!
The time with her was so sweet! The three and a half hours together around the city was great and such an answer to prayer. Walking…talking…sight seeing… praying… coffee shop and chocolate time. It was the perfect moment and it left me with renewed hope of seeing her again with longer time to spend.

The journey to Spain was unknown to me in what it would curtail. I was certainly surprised on how much I enjoyed the city and the people. The buildings, alley ways, food and atmosphere were amazing! I got a chance to walk the streets, visit shops, two museums, eat local foods, and take the subway system. What an exciting time!
The twenty-four hours there was well spent and it seemed as if the hours were stretched instead of passing by in lightening speed. It was defiantly a treat to visit and it left me with an itch to come back and see more of this Spanish country.

The rest of the journey was long and filled with sleep. We camped out at the airport in Columbia for thirteen hours. I blogged, slept on benches, drank hot chocolate and ate Mc Donald’s breakfast (my first on the Race).

The entrance to Costa Rica was long awaited for. It did not come up short ended. The place is beautiful!…full of mountains, beautiful buildings and home structures, familiar stores and surroundings.
We are in expectation on what the Lord has in store for our team. We have surrounded the decision in prayer. We are excited to see where the Lord has us for the month in Costa Rica.
The past four days have been a whirlwind but defiantly guided by God’s hand. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I have enjoyed the journey.
