Close your eyes… imagine the most beautiful place on earth you’ve ever been. I’ll wait.

Now open them… amazing, right? When I close my eyes I can imagine some of the most beautiful places on earth, to me, I can imagine myself there without ever being there. The Grand Canyon, The Northern Lights, a sunset on a tropical beach: its all amazing right? A beauty as most would say. We’ll come back to that, however.

For a while now, I’ve constantly encountered and interacted with people who literally thought that they were just here. No rhyme or reason to it. Whether it was finding who they were or just dealing with self-worth. Did you know that’s perfectly fine? I believe two of the most important days of your life is when you’re born and the day you find out why. I honestly don’t give a flip if you’re religious, a follower of Jesus, or just don’t care… you’re here for a reason.

Sometimes it’s the fact that we’re afraid to find that reason out because you’re afraid it’s not what YOU wanted it to be. I’ll prove you wrong right now and tell you that the day you find your purpose you’ll know because it’ll break your heart in the sweetest way possible. God created you how you are so that you can love and live out your purpose in the most positive way possible. Love talking to people? Maybe it’s a set up to be a good ole social worker or a pastor of Hillsong. Love to travel? Maybe it’s so you can live out your purpose of meeting new people during your job who’s lives will change or to be a full on missionary. Love babies? Maybe it’s so you can be a nurse and take care of those sick ones in the hospital while their parents are going through hell on earth wondering if they’re child will make it through the next hour or maybe just to take care of someone’s baby in the nursery while their parents hear a message from God they’ve been needing that day at church. Whatever the case, you were made for it, even if you haven’t found out yet.

Everyone goes through a season of finding themselves; some people harder than others with the thoughts of, “I’ll never be able to get there, it’s too far fetched,” “There’s plenty of other people better suited for that,” or “I’ve messed up too much, they won’t accept me”. My close friend (and also pastor) Adam said something that you hear all the time recently, but this time it just stuck out to me like a sore thumb: “You only get one of these.” Crazy, right? 20, 60, 70, 100 years at best, and then we’re done with this place… I don’t know about you guys, but leaving this place without being able to say I brought people along with me while living out my purpose won’t be in my story.

You were created on purpose, with a purpose, and for a purpose. Let’s go back to the most beautiful places on earth. Close your eyes, and imagine your favorite place again. The smells, the feeling, the beauty of it captivating your eyes… I’ll wait.

Now open them again; the beauty of it is hard to even fathom isn’t it? Do you realize that God said “let there be” to everything this earth has to offer, even that beautiful place, but he took time on you? You’re a masterpiece. You’re special. Let there be (blank). Not even 5 seconds of words and it was there by the beauty of his words, yet he took 9 months to make you even more beautiful than all of that because you’re here on purpose, with a purpose, and for a purpose. One of two important days in your life are already gone… Don’t miss the next one.

Now close your eyes, and in closing your humanly eyes I want you to ask him to open your spiritual eyes… ask him to break your heart for someone or something… ask him to reveal your purpose… I’ll wait.
