We are going to start this off with a little bit of a funny story to try to get you in the right mood for what I am actually writing about. Pastor Dave or Melinda, feel free to leave this part out of the bulletin if you wish. So here's the thing, africa is hot any time of year. Yes it is true, it is not wildly hot this time of year but still hot enough to make you sweat. After loosing 25 lbs my body has developed this weird channel system which directs and focusses all of my back sweat into my butt crack! Common name for this occurrence is swass aka swamp ass. In a developed nation this isn't a big issue it is more uncomfortable than anything. But here in africa in has created this fun game because of our diet this month.
You know, the one where we eat some sort of beans on a daily basis.
Therefore swass has become a much bigger issue. When you have so much swass that your farts bubble, you seriously start to question if you are a human being. I think I have ruined more pairs of underpants this month than I have in the last 10 years. The only problem is, I have to continue wearing these clothes for three more months. Some might suggest simply buying new underpants. Brief description of overseas undergarments – unless bought at a western mall in a big city where everything is three to four times more expensive than America, you can only find undergarments from street vendors who sell all things out of package which usually means they have been worn before and quite poorly washed since. Oh yeah, they also only offer very "unflattering" men's underpants aka man thongs regardless of where you buy them. Besides that…I'm broke!
So on that note, we can begin this blog. As you all know by now, I am fully funded thanks to so many of you! Not only fully funded but I have enough funds in my account to continue doing missions with AIM without having to fundraiser in the traditional way. Earlier this week we were told what day we will be coming home!! On May 30th, 2013 at 11:30 am I will theoretically be in in New York City, New York in the United States of America! It is crazy to think this year is coming to an end. However one of the realization I have come to this week while planning my return to y'all is that I will be flat broke come my stateside arrival. First of all I will have no American currency on me nor will I have any money to draw out of a bank. So I have been putting a lot of thought into this blog and have been fighting with myself about even asking this question, but here I am. So…
Who wants to donate to the
Jason needs to get home fund?
My request is as follows. Estimated price to fly from Boston to Houston /New Orleans is around $250 and then I am still left with the issue of not having any money to even eat food or pay for a pay phone or anything until I can get to Houston and start selling off my crap. I am asking for "out of the goodness of your heart" donations to keep me alive for the first ten days of life in America. I am asking for $350 dollars total to be sent to my home in Houston so that it can become available to me once in America. Please read this carefully, this money is not going to me now where it could be spent on stupid stuff like deodorant or man thongs, this only becomes available to me once I am on American soil.
I have learned a lot of things through this whole missionary process and one of them is humility. This is the only reason I am writing this. God has shown me time and time again how my pride gets in the way of asking for help. As I have been praying about this blog, God has shown me my selfish desires in this request then showed me how there are people back home who have the ability and willingness to assist me. He has shown me how to keep my selfish desires out of this blog and try to portray the truth of the situation. I hope and I pray that you all continue to seek God in situations like this no matter who is asking and act according to His guidance. I thank you in advance for even the consideration of assisting me and God bless those who do assist in this.
You are all amazing people who have been incredible thus far.
In the event you do choose to do this, you can send money to my address below or conveniently a lot of the people reading this see my parents regularly and can give it directly to them. Thank you again. You all rock and I love you all very much. See you soon!!
As He leads me,
Jason
