So, some really exciting news! Back story is we knew about a year and a half before leaving for YWAM that God wanted us to take time off and do what we are currently doing, but we had no idea what God had for us after this. As many of you know, we said we were open to whatever the next step God had for us. You know often God shows us one step at a time and you wonder when he’ll show you what’s next? That’s how it was for us since God told us to do this. One morning a month or two ago while talking to God in conversation, I asked Him when He was going to show us the next step. The conversation went like this; “God, when are you going to speak to show us what’s next for us after the race? I’m just getting kind of curious God, will we not know till the race is over or will it be soon?” As soon as I asked the question God spoke back to me and said “When are you going to ask me?” I seriously couldn’t believe it, I had not asked God up to this point what He had for us, but was just waiting for Him to tell me someday. I mean, God knew that we didn’t know what was next, right? Now smiling and amazed that I had never asked Him and that all God was waiting for was for me to ask, I said, “Well, I guess I’ll ask you now, if that’s ok. What do you have for us after the Race?” And right then and there God started speaking to me about His plans for us. And where this is exciting is that it involves coming back home to Lancaster, the business, friends, and family!

It’s crazy and frustrating for me all at the same time to realize how quickly I can forget the simple things in life that God teaches me, like asking Him when I have a need or a question. Back in February I had a few specific which included selling the Audi TT to help us meet our next deadline for our YWAM schooling, and the renting out the Ross St. apartment. The car had been for sale for months with no serious interest at all, the apartment was up for rent for over two months with no renters lined up, and I felt like God said, “ask me specifically what you need and watch what I can do.” So I asked God to sell the car and rent the house out before our next payment deadline was due and waited. Within a week from asking, both of these things had happened! I’m telling you this to just say, if you need anything, ask. He is a good father and LOVES to give good things to His children WHEN they ask Him. Yep, you think I would know this by now, after all the times God has waited for me to ask Him before showing me something, but I am human and keep on forgetting.

One more things while I am on it, even though I forget this over and over, God never condemns me when I finally do ask! He always answers in love and shows me yet again He was just waiting for me to ask. Sometimes I wonder how frustrating it must be for God when he has something for me that He is excited to give me and I want it so badly and am wondering why He’s not giving it to me, but the whole time He’s waiting for me. His patience and love is incredible! He showed me at least one reason why He waits for us to ask. If He just gave us everything (comfort, direction, material needs, you name it) without us ever asking, we wouldn’t be nearly as thankful for it. But when we want it, and we make a point to ask for it, when we do get what he has to give us, we’re so much more thankful and He gets that much more credit for what it is He gave us. Because then we see a direct answer to our prayer and it builds faith in us.

So this whole thing started with me wanting to say loud and clear we are coming back home after the race! And that’s how we know!
