Hey Everybody…..so it’s about time I got to this.  Alright, so I grew up and currently live in a little town in North Carolina, called Welcome.  And yeah, the sign when you get here says exactly what you would think it would, “Welcome to Welcome.”  It’s right south of Winston-Salem, where Krispy Kreme started, and it’s pretty much the tobacco capital of the world.  In 2002 I graduated high school, and went to Appalachian State University, where I got my degree in History, Secondary Education.  For the past two years I’ve been teaching World History, and Civics & Economics at a local high school.  The classes I taught were somewhat boring, but my job never was, and for the most part I really enjoyed it.  It was really tough to sign the resignation letter a couple weeks ago, and I don’t think it has settled in that I’m officially unemployed because its still summer vacation.  Hopefully I can find somebody to hire me for a few months, in addition to giving me a week and a half off in october…we’ll see how that goes.
I like to play guitar….a lot.  I’ve played for about 12ish years I guess, and have never grown tired of it.  I used to just try to learn stuff, and jam by myself, or with some people in high school and college.  A couple years ago the band at church asked me to start playing with them on sunday’s and that’s definitely one of the things I’ll miss the most.  Other than playing music, I run a lot–I ran my first half-marathon earlier this year and am hoping to be able to run another one before january. i’ll also do the occasional 5k or 10k.  I like to be active and play any kind of sports, whether it be basketball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, etc.  I also like to be outdoors, and go hiking/camping, I eventually would like to live in Colorado, or somewhere like that.  I’d like to get into mountain biking and possibly rock climbing eventually.  I like to read, a bunch of different stuff, fiction, non-fiction.

Family is pretty important to me.  I grew up with three brothers an no sisters, people used to feel sorry for my mom at times, for good reason.  It’s going to be tough leaving them and the area for a while, but I’m also excited about getting out and doing something different, living with different people, and building new relationships and community.  I’m kind of terrified, but also really excited, so hopefully that will be a good mix.

I’ll try to talk more about my testimony in another section.  I’ll try to add some pictures soon, most people don’t believe the welcome to welcome sign, and look forward to getting to know ya’ll better and meeting you in october.
