So I just finished a 1-on-1 with our Squad mentor. She had been dropping Wisdom Bombs, as she usually does, and ended our conversation with tips on listening to God. Upon walking away from that conversation, I asked God to speak to me more clearly. He answered that prayer quick.
As I made my way to my next 1-on-1, I felt God pushing me to hurry up and run. I thought, “Really God? That’s like 3 blocks away and it is pouring outside.” So, I started with a brisk jog. I thought I was making pretty good time for about 5 minutes then God spoke again, “No Jason, I want you to hurry up and really run.” Not understanding why in the world the Lord was leading me to do this, I wanted to trust more in His voice. So I ran.
I kid you not, I sprinted through a Serbian park and up multiple streets; which, I must add, had quiet the incline. I can’t imagine what spectators were thinking. Here’s this brown Chinese-looking kid wearing an REI rain jacket, jorts, and chacos sprinting accross town in the rain. I finally show up to the Cafe where our Squad Coach Matt had scheduled our meeting and found him sitting there with one of my fellow squad members. They hadn’t even finished their meeting! As I was wiping the sweat off my brow, our Squad Coach called me over to sit down. He said, “Have a seat, Jason! There’s something we didn’t want to do until you arrived.”
On a rainy day in the middle of Serbia, I got to be the witness for my squadmate as He accepted Jesus Christ into His heart. That moment, he became 100% assured of His Salvation and relationship with God. They were honoring Matthew 10:32-33 and waiting for me so that I may be his witness of this amazing proclamation.
“So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven” Matthew 10:32
