“For when things are peachy”
A letter one of my friends gave me was titled that. See I always have the hardest time opening letters because of thought. Thoughts like “what if there is a time peachier than this?” “What if I miss home more than I do at this point?”. Well I opened it but I digress.
The point is life is good on the World Race right now. It’s peachy! I am not struggling. I am not finding relationships with locals difficult. The ministry with children is awesome. I am even learning the language without too much difficulty!
God is good, and life is good. But a conflict-less life leads to a new challenge.
How do we find growth on these mountain tops? How do we continue to develop our hearts to further point to the Lord?
I don’t want my relationship with God to be stagnant. I want to always grow. To Always walk closer. Always want more.
No matter what we need to continually pursue all the things God wants us to pursue. All the things he calls us to think of, talk of, and do. This is how we continue to grow in the good times. This is how we walk closer and closer to God when we are not broken.
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”
Philippians 4:8-9
Even in the good times we need to live life as Christ. We need to continually be pursuing God and all his qualities. Qualities as in the fruit of the Spirit love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We can always pray for these, we can always pray to be made more like Him.
Even when we aren’t changing through valleys we can find growth. We can always find a characteristic to work on. We can always find ways to be more loving. We can always point more to Jesus with our lives. And that is my goal for these 9 months (wow 7.5 months now). To grow even on the mountaintops. I want everything in me to point to Jesus. at this point my prayer is the same as David’s in Psalm 19:14. “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer”
I want to be living proof of a loving wonderful creator. Even when my heart is full I want to be a person who truly loves people without need for gain or satisfaction. I want to be pleasing to the Lord. It is always possible to grow closer to the Lord, so even on this mountaintop I will.
