Ladies… I WANT MY MUFFINS BACK! Per your request I have agreed to write this blog about how much I love my new sisters in Christ in order to get them back.
To all those who are lost right now, let me catch you up to speed. After a team movie night in the girls room of our hostel this past tuesday, I left my two muffins in their room. The following morning I recieved via Facebook wall this ransom note with picture of said muffins.
“And the Ransom Hunnies strike again! Another prized possession in our midst. Here is our demand: a blog post written about how the time with your Courageous Love sisters (man, they’re awesome) has impacted your perspective of women. We will not negotiate. Or forfeit the goods. But we promise they will stay safe (ahem, uneaten) and eagerly await their return to your stinky bunk. (PS- These were not stolen, but merely found. Too easy, bro.)”
The four ladies on my team like to keep the men’s items which are left in “their space” and demand some sort of ransom for it. As guys we normally just act like what they have isn’t of any importance to us. The first item was Daniel’s planner, it seemed to work for him because they eventually just gave it back after a day or so. So of course thats the first thing out of my mouth when they as me about the note. “Eh, you can keep ’em. Its just 60cents worth of tienda muffins.” I’d say I won that battle…minus them still having my muffins.
Here I sit two days later and really caring less about my muffins, and I had a thought. (I know, scary right) These ladies really do deserve to be praised. Although my initial blog was going to be a funny one about how the girls look and act like zombies as they wake up in the morning, or how us men have to set our timers for 10 minutes before entering a restroom that was just occupied by one of the girls. haha However, I decided to reach a bit deeper and pull out some kindness.
The 4 ladies on my team are quickly becoming the sisters I never had. Since I was 12 I lived in a house with just my dad, brother and me. I’ve never had to live in community with the opposite genera. I’ve never even taken the time to truly know a female on any kind of deep level. I’ve also never known a woman who truly wants to live a life pleasing to God, and is willing to give up her plans for the Lord’s plan.
Over the past two and a half months of living with and most of the time in close quarters with these girls, I have really bonded bonded with them. Heidi, Shannon, Aly, and Tara have become family. Heidi is the younger sister who is always filled with joy, and will get anyone laughing who might need a pick me up. She loves the Lord with all she’s got and is growing in her relationship with Him at a visible pace. Shannon is like the oldest sister who has a sincere love for people, for caring for them in any way they need. She may seem shy and quiet to the untrained person, but she is full of energy and is a joy to be around. Aly is the middle older sister who I can relate too most when speaking of our past selves. She is an amazingly strong woman in her faith and a very caring, genuine person. Tara, last but not least is my same age. We may not spend a ton of time together but she is a truly an inspiration to me. Her love for the Lord is easily seen in her everyday actions. I love seeing her worship the Lord because she always has a big smile on her face and loves dancing during worship. It seems to me as if she was at a Daddy Daughter elementary school dance with her Heavenly Father smiling down at her and holding her close.
All of these woman are beautiful, and a great example of someone who is searching for the Lord with all their hearts. They are caring, loving, selfless, and just a joy to be around. Any man of God will be truly blessed to call one of these women his future wife.
I hope you ladies enjoy these words from my heart, even if I don’t always who it or say it. Im glad the Lord put you all on my team, and I can’t wait to make even more memories together as the year goes by.
NOW GIMME MY MUFFINS!……please? 🙂
