It was a big struggle for me to understand grace when I first became a christian a year and a half ago. Over the past few weeks God has led me to see and know what grace is really about. So I want to explain it the best I can to you with a little help from a book im reading called “Jesus is ____. ” by Judah Smith. I Highly recommend you read this book. Because Jesus is Everything!
Think for a moment if you had kids, and if you do have kids think about this. What if one day your child came up to you and said, “Mom, or Dad, I’ve been thinking, and lately I’ve been super good! Now, maybe, just maybe, I am worthy to be your child!” My guess is that most of your responses would resemble this. “Worthy? You are my child, I love you because you are mine, I would do anything for you, I would die for you!” It’s never about how good or bad they are. In the same way being a son or daughter of God has nothing to do with being worthy. We are sons and daughters of God by birth, not worth. That’s why Jesus said we must be born again. Spiritual birth happens by Grace when we believe. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Believe what you ask? Simply that Jesus exists, that he paid for EVERYONES sins when He died, and that He rose again to make a new life available for each one of us. Our sonship is not based on our performance, but on Jesus’s FINISHED performance and our faith in that FINISHED work. This is the GRACE I became fully aware of at training camp and want to share to the entire world. A world that is filled with children of God, not by their worth, deeds, works, or own power, but by HIS GRACE and their FAITH in that supernatural Grace, who’s name is CHRIST JESUS!
