In May 2011, Josh and Jen Mendenhall applied for the World Race, got accepted to the C squad, and it unfortunately didn’t turn out for them to go. They were shifted to the F squad. Now, of course being married, they have to raise double the funds, which is $31.000. I remember how I thought raising $15,500 was going to be challenging. I can’t imagine $31,000.
Around April 2012 is a moment I couldn’t forget. I remember logging on Facebook to see what the F Squad was up to, and it was my first time really in awhile seeing what was up. I saw a status which made me laugh so hard. “I just suggested to Josh that he should play Nintendo with his brother. He turned to me and said, ‘You're encouraging me to play video games??? You're the best wife a guy could ask for!’”– Jen Mendenhall.

The heart of the L squad
I was shaking my head for so many reasons. I am a big video game fan, and I remember saying, “Wow, I hope I meet a wife like that one day,” and I remember also saying, “Ok guys you have $31 grand to raise, no time for jokes.” I thought it was really cool, that under all this pressure to fundraise, blogging, reaching out, and buying WR gear, Josh and Jen still knew how to live their lives with so much joy in the midst of all that they had to do. Not many people know how to live like that. We all have circumstances and trials, but finding the right attitude and choosing to live your life in such peace is hard to find, because we are so wrapped up in what we need to do.

I have found a peace that I didn’t know I could have
– Jen Mendenhall

"Josh doesn't like when I open up 10 tabs at a time" – Jen
"well its frustrating, Makes the Internet go real slow!!" – Josh
Josh and Jen do the hard work; they don’t coast, they know how live their lives in complete trust for Jesus so they won’t be shaken or allow circumstances to dictate how they will feel. It’s like they know they have to raise this money and do all this other stuff, but they walk without a worry in the world. Writing that Facebook status just shows you how much trust they have in Jesus, because finances was not something they worried about every day. They didn't allow it to affect their lifestyle, attitudes, and they continued on with what they had to do.

GEARED UP>>>>>>>>>>For the BIG DAY TRAINING CAMP!!!!!
I have discovered that there is freedom in total surrender! – Josh Mendenhall

Travel DAYS!!!!!!!!!
So, it became crunch time, and they had to raise $7000 by May 5 to go to Training Camp with F Squad. Unfortunately, that was not met. As they made the decision to jump to L squad, the deadline for that training camp came in. Then just a week before launch, they had to raise approx $700 to make that deadline. By faith, trust, and hard work, they did it!!! I mean, literally they posted 20 Facebook statuses a day to support them, fundraisers from art galleries, Chick-fil-A spirit day, garage sales, selling bracelets, selling their car, daily blogs, support letters, cards, and the key thing: consistent prayer.

FUNDRAISING,YAY!!!!!! Just visit the website you see in here
I don’t want next weekend to be goodbye I sit here, and I am writing about how badly I need them here. These aren’t just my fellow racers and brother and sister in the Lord, but my friends. I remember having my guard up before the Race. I really wasn’t going on the race to make long term friends, or friends at all, because afterwards it was inevitable that you would separate and no longer be in touch. Josh and Jen are friends I want until I am gray and old. Where one day my future wife and I can hang out with them and do couples dates. I can see Josh and I in our rocking chairs sharing stories about the race, or stories to come after the race.
Josh and Me

Shenanigans Up in the Mountains, Bonding
This blog is not about how much I want them to stay on the race. Really, they need to be here for that homeless man in Malaysia, or the girl walking the street in Cambodia. Thailand needed Josh to help build a community centre for women leaving the sex trade. They need to be here for maybe building that church In Africa, or to help teach English to the locals, to help with any disaster relief, or just Josh and Jen wandering the street, making those relationships so they can share what Jesus is doing in their lives and what He wants to do in theirs.

Josh is setting things on fire and Jen is getting the harvest ready.

That’s why they need to stay
Please, Please, Please, donate. Any size, big or small, would be so great and appreciated, but honestly preferably big. Just think, if we can get 500 people to donate $20 dollars, they would be fully funded. Or, 400 people to donate $25. Or even better, 100 people to donate a one-time donation of 100 dollars. If you want to help, and you’re not sure how, please contact me at [email protected] . Remember, prayer is the key, and the best way you can support them.
I don’t believe in coincidences, but you all know by now we are going to India instead of Australia. Going to India has been a huge dream and a prayer of Jen’s. I really believe God wants them there. I am waiting with anticipation to see how they are going to be used. I really feel Jesus set this up for them. There is just something that God is going to do with them there, and I am excited to see what. It gets me so excited. I hope it gets you excited, but I want to see what God has in store for them, so let’s get Josh and Jen here to stay.
15How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written,
“HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!”
