“It is not religion on a mission, but the love of Christ with a purpose….to bring hope.”

Have you ever been in love? I’m talking about the kind of love where
you would do anything for that person and I mean ANYTHING. The kind of
love where you’re willing to act a fool because the only opinion that
matters is that of your one true love. Isn’t it an awesome feeling?

Maybe you’re someone that has never experienced love or you got
your heart broken by a loved one. The pain of once knowing love and
having it taken away must be unbearable, I can only imagine.

As C.S Lewis says, to love is to be vulnerable.
vul-ner-a-ble

-adjective
capable of or susceptible to being wounded or hurt

Many of us are scared to be vulnerable, at least I know I am. We all desire
for ourselves to be happy (not that that’s a bad thing) and we don’t
want anyone’s sad story to bring us down. To love is to be willing to
carry someones burden along side them and to help them OVERCOME and to
let them know that they are not alone in their time of desperate need.
To know true love is to know self sacrifice.

I use to think about how much suffering there is in the world and it would make me
sad. Then I thought, “well, what can I really do about it?” So I began to focus more on myself and
my aspirations of becoming a vet, but I eventually began to feel empty. I felt like I
turned into a robot that was so driven by school and extracurricular
activities. Deep down inside of me I felt something pulling at my
spirit telling me there is more to life than my career and social status. I eventually switched my major from Animal Science to
International Relations. I began learning about issues around the world
that were just devastating to hear. There were times were I
just wept and prayed. I asked God what can I do to help these
people…his people? I felt him telling me with a soft laugh My child,
YOU can not do this on your own strength but only with MY strength and
MY love will you be able to accomplish what I have placed on your
heart
.”

You see, God’s love is not like ours, it doesn’t have limits or
restrictions; nor does it have favorites or outcasts. God’s love is
unconditional and it NEVER changes. His love, the love of Christ, is
true self sacrifice.

We can offer physical provisions such as food, clothes, houses,
etc. but once received who will heal the emotional wounds of the
children soldiers that were forced to murder their parents?
Who will
heal the spiritual brokenness of women and children forced into
prostitution? Who will mend the broken hearts of
the innocent orphans that only desire to be held?
All the money in the
world can not buy the love that they need and want. Only God can offer that.

I know that in these countries that I will be going to it will be difficult to see all the
pain and hurt, but the hope of God in the midst of sorrow gives love
strength and perseverance in situations that seem so hopeless. He will
bring the light, joy and self worth to those who have been told that
they are worthless. It is only by his unconditional love and nothing
else.

My heart desires to tell everyone that there is a God that cares for
them and He brings hope in this dark world.
He does not cause the bad,
but he brings the good.
It is our CHOICE to seek after it and HOLD ON
to it regardless of how dark the situation is.

God’s love is limitless grace. He loves us even when we choose to ignore him and go our
own ways. His love is something that no one can ever take away. It is
somet
hing that no one can ever imitate. It is so amazing and real that I am so passionate about sharing it
everywhere I go. All we have to do is accept His love and what He did for us on that cross. It’s a gift.
It is not religion on a mission, but the love of Christ with a purpose….to bring hope.

That is what drives me- the love of Christ who gave His life for me,
who paid my price so that I can be free.

Ephesians 5:2-  and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
