One day I was talking to a college student and asked if they wanted to support me on the World Race. Their response, “sorry I just don’t have money.” And I get that! I was a college kid too. I understood picking and choosing what to eat or whether or not I was going to be able to pay the electricity bill… Those bad boys are only $20, but the struggle to have $20 at that time was REAL! So I get it. But not even 5 minutes later I watch them come back with a starbucks drink.. Like the fancy kind. Like the smallest starts out costing your big toe. So I got a little frustrated. Okay a lotta frustrated. So while I was complaining the Lord, of course, reminded me that I do the same. When I should save I spend. When I have $10 I spend $9.50. I’m the worst finances and budgets. So I have decided to challenge myself. And of course why wouldn’t I invite you on the ride!!!
For the Month of march, starting on Tuesday, I will not be eating out. I know, craziness. I didn’t even want to write a blog about it, because my accountability is gonna be at the maximum level!!! But in order to see how much I really spend, anytime I am craving something, so much as so I feel like I would go get it, I will see how much it costs and put it in a jar. I’m sure by the end of the month I will have at least 12 million dollars!!!
I’m not the type of person to do challenges by myself, so I want to invite you to join! What is it that you spend money on that may be making a dent in your wallet. Or maybe you have the finances, but wouldn’t it just be cool to see how much money you’re actually spending on Starbucks, or shoes, or electronics?!
There is a twist to this challenge. Not a real twist as much as it is a reason for you to do this. Maybe you haven’t given to me because you don’t have money, or maybe you just hate me. You can’t hate me that much, you’ve read this far!!!!! But the money that you put away in your jar or envelope, why not use it to help fund my mission trip? I would love it. You would love it. Let’s see how much we can raise in just 1 month!!!!
