Morning Walk

Recently one morning I put my ipod on my arm, put the headphones in, and went for a walk.  I didn’t know where the road would lead but I just walked.  The path got more beautiful with each step.  I saw mango trees, coconut trees, and tall green grass.  Many of the people were outside there homes mixing cement and adding on their house.  As I walked the road ended and became a small trail through the grassy area.  I came upon a young man my age pushing a wheelbarrow full of water jugs. It probably weighed about 200 pounds!  He was at the top of a steep hill and looked very tired and like he needed help down.  I asked if he would like some help and he nodded.  I took hold of the wheelbarrow and started down the hill pulling backwards to keep it from going to fast.  When I got to the bottom, sweat dripping off me, I thought to myself, “I’m finished”  I was wrong.  He motioned me to continue.  When I looked up there was a long trail about 50 yards!

In the background is the steep hill I pushed the wheelbarrow down.

And the trails here are not smooth.  By the way, the wheel was just that, a steel wheel without a rubber tire on it.  Oh well I thought.  This will be hard but I wanted to help the guy and needed a workout anyways.  I pushed the wheelborrow and came to his house where his dad and sister were waiting to help carry the jugs up some stairs to the house.  Then I said, “hasta luego” and walked home.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for me to have strength for this journey.  Not only am I grateful, but so are those with heavy loads I can help relieve.  To God be the Glory!
