We are in Panajachel, Guatemala

How economical, how peaceful, how happy, how mature.  Those are some of the thoughts I’ve had about this place.

Economical- In the Hotel where we are staying the water is heated in the shower head.

Peaceful- birds are constantly singing and the vehicles are mostly motorcycles that are quiet.

Happy- most of the people here are constantly smiling and laughing.

Mature- the elementary children walk in small groups to and from school through the city with no adults. I have seen no strife between the children.  They just walk and smile. Some young teenagers even drive the taxis, which look like gas powered 3 wheel golf carts, just smaller.

When I look out of my room I see a steep green mountain.  Luke and I will probably hike it before we leave.

Food- the food has been tasty.  So far I’ve eaten chicken soup with corn tortillas that I got to make, eggs, black beans, a mango, pineapple, macadamia nuts, chicken fajitas and vegetable lasagna.

Drinks- so far I’ve had special hortchata made with milk, pineapple, and coconut.  I’ve also had hot cocoa.  Both of these drinks were made from ingredients grown here and taste so good.

Some shocking things I’ve seen are women 4 ft. tall, 8 year old children who have there own shoe shine business, and a man walking around with a scale renting it to weigh people!
