Hello! It’s been awhile, but with good reason. I’ve spent the last two weeks in the mountains and forests of the Cherokee National forest in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee! I was up there for my church’s camp, Camp Cherokee. This was my third year at Camp Cherokee as a student, and my first as a counselor. It’s impossible to sum up Cherokee in just a few short words, but if I had to, I’d say it’s an unforgettable, life-changing, and extremely fun experience that I hope never to miss out on. As a student, you’re placed in an incredible environment of worship designed to bring you closer to God. As a counselor, I got to help create that environment for my kids. Though it wasn’t always easy, being a counselor was such a privilege and it’s so rewarding to watch your campers grow and change throughout the week, not just in their faith but also in their confidence and personalities. Worship is by far my favorite part of camp. The band does an incredible job of performing and they make it fun, too.
Being in an environment like Cherokee is so refreshing, and really nourishing to the soul. I’m grateful for the time I got to spend there, but eager to get back to preparation for WR.
As far as World Race goes, preparation has been great. I’m more than 50% complete to my goal of $13,805. Gear shopping is another story, in that area I am a little behind. Training is roughly 3 weeks away and I’ve yet to gather and purchase the bulk of my gear. All is well, though, because I’m seeking advice from some friends and avid backpackers.
If you’ve funded me in anyway or have been praying for me, thank you; from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Please continue to pray for this prep and for my fundraising.
