I would just to encourage anyone who hasn’t started reading
the book of Acts yet or who has slacked off like me. I saw the team challenge but never put much
thought into it. I can start that later
was the only thing that popped into my mind.
This past weekend I forced myself to sit down and really dive into the
first few chapters and God completely opened my eyes to what He has to
offer. I would just like to share with
you some of the verse that spoke to me and hope that this encourages you to do
the same as we go through this book together as one team.
Acts 1.8 — But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit
has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem,
and in all Judea and Samaria,
and to the end of the earth.
This verse hit home to me because my church is fueled by
it. Missions are a huge part of our ministries
and now this is the calling that has been placed on all of our lives.
Acts 2.37 — Now when they heard this (What Christ had done
for them), they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the
apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?
People of this world are in such need of Jesus. When they hear of the sacrifice that He made
for them all they can do is ask, “What shall we do? What are the next steps? How can we have Jesus in our lives?
Acts 3.6 — Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have,
but what I do have I give you; In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up
and walk.
We are leaving the States with next to nothing to give
except the love and power of Jesus Christ.
Since that has the power to save souls and change lives forever I am
okay with that.
Acts 4:13 — Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they
marveled. And they realized that they
had been with Jesus.
This one is my favorite so far. The men that Jesus picked were uneducated and
untrained and they were still able to change the world through the power of
Christ. I know that a lot of you have
spoken out about feeling uncertain or not prepared for what is about to happen
and that is okay. I just hope that you
take more time to spend with Jesus and ask for the boldness to take on the
challenges ahead.
I do not claimed to be educated or trained but I do hope
that this will encourage more of you to read Acts with us and post what God is
speaking to you.
