Ok ladies (and guys if you’re reading this) I’ve had this blog on my heart since training camp but had to wait until now for the Lord to give me His words. So here we go!
We are blessed on V Squad to have Men of Valor among us. Our men are strong, bold, and courageous…men who are after God’s own heart. They will fight for us both in the physical and the spiritual realms. They understand what it is to be a brother in Christ and for all of this, we are so grateful and blessed.
So now my call is to the women of V Squad. Our team is only as strong as the weakest link and we, as women, are not to be that weakest link. We too have been created in the image of God and we are called to a life that is honoring and pleasing to Him.
That is why I believe God is calling the women of this squad to rise up and become Women of Virtue. I kept asking God for a “V” word that would be fitting for this season in our lives and this is where the Lord led me. Some of the definitions of virtue are as follows: (1) a particular moral excellence, (2) conformity to a standard of right (3) a commendable quality or trait. Some of the synonyms of virtue are distinction, excellency, grace, and value.
I believe that God is calling us to be women who lead a life of distinction and excellency. We all know that Proverbs 31 is a chapter that talks about being a wife of noble character, though I believe this is for all women, not just us married ones! There are a few verses that really stuck out to me as I read them this morning:
:26 “She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”
:30 “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
The Lord is asking us to be this woman. He desires for us for us to be strong and wise, continually giving faithful instruction. Often we wonder, though, how we live this out. The truth is that we cannot do this on our own. But God promises us in Isaiah 41:10 “I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.”
You see, when we are fully committed to God, when we decide to live our lives fully for Him, well that’s when we become these women of virtue. But we as women get so caught up in the worldly and superficial things (this is definitely me, but I know there are some of you reading this that get caught up too). We are so concerned with how we are viewed, whether it’s our intelligence, our beauty, our personality, what we possess….the list goes on and on. And because of this, we lose sight of who God is and how He sees us. Song of Songs is a beautiful description of the Lord’s love for us. He says in chapter 4:7 “All beautiful you are, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” When we feel that everything is wrong with us, God says there is not one flaw in us!!! One of my favorite books is called “Enjoying God” by S.J. Hill. It opened my eyes to how God really sees me and how He really wants me to live. I’m putting this excerpt in here because some of you Women of Virtue need to hear it:
“You may not realize it, but the Father is ravished by you. You make Him smile. You make Him laugh. You make Him leap for joy. You make His heart beat faster. In Zephaniah 3:17, the Bible even says you make Him sing for joy. Whether you understand that or not doesn’t stop God from responding to you in that way. He looks at you and grins. He sees your hair, your skin, your smile, and He rejoices.”
So today, as you think about how the Lord sees you – a woman of strength, dignity, wise, and without flaw, remember that now He’s calling you to live as that woman. He wants you to be a Woman of Virtue, that can go into the world and be that true reflection of who our Creator and Father is. And as we do so, He’s singing over us!
So who will answer this call? Who is going to rise up and be the woman that God desires them to be? Are you ready for a virtuous life? Are you ready from this day forward to be a Woman of Virtue? I pray that you’ll join me in this as it is close to my heart. I love all of you beautiful women and am excited to spend the next year walking this out along side you!
