If you have not read my blog about Cambodia’s history, please do so here, or this blog will not make much sense.

That afternoon we got back from the killing fields and from S-21, everytime I closed my eyes all I could see was their faces starring back at me. I had a huge range of emotions and feelings from why did you let this happen God to no one deserves to die like this- NO ONE does. God really spoke to my heart about all of what was going through my head and the following is what the conversation was like in my head and heart and God:

I can see them when I close my eyes. All of their faces stare back at me, God. They did not deserve to die like this. No one deserves this. I wonder why you let this all happen- why did so many have to die. How many of them actually knew you? Why did they have to die and not know you?

I was with them every step of the way. I never left their side. I saw each tear that fell and I heard each scream. I felt their pain- their pain became my pain. I never left them and I held them in my arms. Each of their blood cries out to Me- every single drop that was spilt cries out to Me and each life does. Even if they did not know Me, I was with them and never left their side.

Why did this happen? I just do not understand.

This is what the world looks like without Me in it. When sin entered the world, this what that looks like. The men and women that did this did not have me in their lives. Don’t you see why the world so desperately needs Me?

It was then that I truly saw what the world looks like without Jesus in it. A world or a life without Jesus in it is one that is full of evil and does not care who it tramples on to get what they want- Hitler, the Khmer Rogue, etc. It was then that I truly realized why us Christians are here- to bring kingdom living to earth. To sharing about His love and why Jesus came. The world needs God now more than ever. We are His hands and feet. We are the tools that He is using to reach His people. We need to be bold for Jesus and to do and be what He is calling us to and to do it without a second glance or doubt.

Through all of what I saw that day, I also saw hope and God in it all! On one of the walls, tourists had written some of the following:

I saw HOPE! I saw GOD! I saw that He is still in control over it all and His love NEVER fails! He was and is still with Cambodia! Through all of what Cambodia has experienced and with so many of the Christians dead from the Khmer Rogue, the church is growing like never before. A generation is rising up and is answering the call God has given them! What satan intended for evil, God has used for His good. God is spreading through Cambodia like a wildfire! Even one of the main leaders, Duch (who was in charge of S-21 and is now in jail awaiting trial) became a Christian!!! God showed me so much hope that has come out of this and how people are turning away from Buddhism and running into God’s arms!!! Please keep on praying for Cambodia and for their hearts to be open to God and what He is doing and will be doing there!!!!
