So, since being home, so many people have asked me what I did this past year and so here is a recap for all of you! Oh the memories this brings back-
Guatemala
Was in a rural village, La Cama, surrounded by corn J Helped with construction on the church and learned so much about serving and community!
Nicaragua-
Was in Ometepe (an island) and worked at an orphanage(helped with in the kitchen with cooking and cleaning, watched two of the cutest little kids, helped with the garden, and helped with the local church on some of their projects (like building a house for pigs)).
Thailand-
In the mornings helped at WonGen café (a Christian coffee shop) and then went over to the university during lunch to talk with the students and invite them back to the coffee shop. We got to know some of the girls that worked at the café and that was where my heart was. In the evenings we went to the bars and ministered to the girls working there.
Cambodia- Went to three different villages and prayed for the sick, taught A LOT of English, gave testimonies, went on house visits with the pastors. This was the country where God WRECKED me and even showed me a glimpse of HIS HEART towards Cambodia. I met some incredible people (from our translators to the young amazing men in our first village to the old lady who took off her rope belt and choose to trust Jesus instead of her spirit houses
Thaliand (Again!)
Worked with a wonderful pastor and his wife. Taught A LOT of English and even got to go into different schools and do mini English lessons. 4 evenings a week we taught the same group of kids and it was hard to leave some of them when it was over. We did prayer walks around the temples, did a hospital visit, handed out A LOT of bibles at a scout camp, and just had a wonderful time being with the pastor and his family.
Ghana
Did hospital visits, praying for fishermen, and A LOT of preaching and street evangelism. This was where I preached for the first time and was nervous beyond belief but God showed me so much about myself during this month about getting out of my comfort zone!
Togo
Was a month of FAITH like I have never experienced before. Was a month of learning like I had not experienced before either. Ended up painting at a seminary and met some incredible missionaries! Was able to go to an AIDS orphanage and was so blessed by these kids!
Nigeria
We switched teams up and was a fun month of getting to know each other. Once again did a lot of preaching and street evangelism. Got to go on some house and hospital visits and even attend a women’s meeting a couple of times. We were able to go to an orphanage and it was so hard to leave these kids. God taught me a lot about boldness and confidence that month!
Romania
Worked with a Hungarian Pastor and did A LOT of street evangelism and ATLing it daily! Was able to go to a gypsy village one day and I have never seen such beautiful kids as I did that day! We got to know some of the church members and even got to attend a worship conference.
Serbia (ATL)
Worked at a church’s children’s camp! Our contact and his family and the church were so AMAZING. God totally redeemed Nigeria for us this month (our contact was from Nigeria and they were such a blessing!).
Moldova
Spent part of our time in the city working with a children’s sport ministry, being involved with the church, and a lot of interceding and prayer. In the village we picked and watched peaches J, helped a little bit with the construction of their church, and mostly just got to know the
church members and neighbors!
Ukraine
Worked with an at-risk youth camp and helped cook and clean for them. Also was able to go on some house visits to some of the kids in their program and their stories will break your heart. Was also able to go to a government run orphan camp for three days and how wonderful just to be able to love and hug on these kids.
Ireland
We spent a week in Ireland for a final debrief and the Awakening Conference(where all squads out on the World Race came together for a 4 day conference with coaches and Alumni!) God defeintily chanllenged some of what I had believed (you know where you know in your spirit that it is true, but your mind cannot wrap around it?). We tented and had shower tokens (6 minutes per token!) and it was pretty cold at night J
but loved every minute of it! What a wonderful way to end this past year!
So Thank you all again for this past year (and for reading this long blog!)! God did amazing things and this is only the beginning!!!!- stayed tuned for what’s next for me!
When you sponsor a child it not only provides a hot meal, clean water, discipleship, and basic medical care for the child, it also supports their family by inviting them through the gates of the CarePoint to receive training, discipleship and mentorship.
