So we finally made it to Thailand last week after a long, long couple of days! We went through 5 different time zones,  through 4 different countries, and flew on 4 different airplanes to arrive here safe and sound J This month for ministry, us Jubilee girls and the girls of Team 180 (Melina, Justine, Kelsi, and Haley) are working with the Lighthouse Ministry (http://lighthousethai.com/Welcome.html) in Chang Mai, Thailand. Our contact, Emmi, has such a heart for the people we will be working with (and she runs a tourist business on the side so hopefully we can go on a cool safari trip here or see some elephants!). We will be doing all sorts of things this month- from ministering to the University students across the street to going to the bars at night and building relationships and ministering to the girls there. Emmi helps run a coffee shop (WonGen Kafe- which means One Generation) where students and other people can come hang out and have a safe place to go to. Our job is to help minister to the university students, whether it is talking to the ones that come to the coffee shop or going to the University and trying to make relationships there and tell them about the coffee shop. Then at night we go to the bars half of the week and minister to those girls and people in that setting- only 4 or 5 us of can go to the bars, so the other girls will stay back at the coffee shop and pray and minister to the students that come in during that time.

Some  pictures of the coffee shop!!!

Our daily schedule looks like this:

Monday through Thursday:

-Leave for the coffee shop around 9:30am and once we get there help open it up (by cleaning, putting chairs out, etc.)

            – Then we just hang out here until we go to the University around 11:30am to pass out flyers about the coffee shop, eat lunch at the school cafeteria and try to sit with students and build relationships with them.

            – Then come back to the coffee shop around 1:30pm and hang out here- whether spending some time resting, talking with students who come in here, or spending some quality time with God.

            – Then we eat dinner and pass out more flyers around 6pm and try and talk with more students and those around us.

            – Then from about 8:30 to 11, half of us go to the bars and minister and build relationships with the girls, ladyboys (boys who dress up like girls), and show Christ’s love to those working in the bars as well as the men who come in there. Even if we do not talk to those men, hopefully they will see something different about us and see how we love these girls and how valuable they are!

            – The girls who are at the coffee shop pray for those who are out at the bars and hang out with the students that come in. Then they help close the coffee shop down by cleaning the floors and putting chairs, etc. up (normally done by 10pm ish).

Friday and Saturday are the same through out the day, but at night we all stay at the coffee shop. Friday nights there is an open Mic Night and Saturday night is game night so we get to play card and board games with the people who come in!! Then Sunday is our rest day and free day- a time to relax and most likely go sightseeing!!!

So please be keeping us in your prayers this month- especially for strength and rest (we have pretty long days)!!!

Here are some pictures of what the bar scene looks like here in Thailand (these pictures are not  from here in Chang Mai though):
