Wow! I have already been in Guatemala for 2 weeks and at our ministry site , La Cama, for 1 week! This past week has been crazy and such a blessing at the same time. We arrived to ministry site last Saturday and were blessed right away! The church was there to meet us and were so happy to have us there. We found out that we will be helping build their church these next couple weeks and right now, they meet at Pastor Manuel’s house with about 70 faithful members and want their church to grow to have about 200 to 300 members! So we have been moving dirt and rocks these past couple days along with cutting wire and rebar to start building the foundation. I must say that I have an awesome tan already and it is only 1 week into it!! Since there are 13 of us, we are doing things that would have taken them days or weeks to do in a matter of a couple hours. As much of a blessing we are to them, they are even more of a blessing to us!!!
We are staying at Pastor Manuel’s house and he and his family moved out of their house so we could stay inside! That alone just about made us cry- they moved everything out so we could have somewhere to stay! So we have our tents set up inside and with the weather as cold as it is, it is nice to be somewhat warmer!! Pastor Manuel’s wife, Lucia, is making all of our food for us and even though it is some of the weirdest food I have eaten, like noodles and mayo, ketchup and noodles, scrambled egs with hotdogs, it is a huge blessing to have homecooked meals!! The community is also blessing us beyond what we could imagine! Since it is so cold, they brought us all blankets to use while we are here and have been bringing us snacks and drinks while we work. One lady went to the next town, which is 45 minutes away, to buy us juice! The kids are starting to warm up to us and it is so much fun to run around with the kids and to just love on them!
