“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” ~ Philippians 4:12-13
This week God has taught me a lot about contentment in more ways than one. All the girls on my team have come down with a stomach bug at some point over the last 2 weeks and it was my turn this past week. Earlier in the week people were finding spiders and bugs in their stuff, so Pastor Manuel and his wife wanted to clean out the house. We thought that meant just have all of our stuff in our tent, but little did we know that they meant to move everything, tents and all. So I was not able to just rest in my tent and during this time God was teaching me about contentment and how I was not able to be in control of this situation. I can tell you all that now I am feeling tons better and my team was so amazing during this time! They made sure I had everything I needed and when I was sick to my stomach they were always n ear by with water. They also laid hands on me and prayed over me and were truly concerned with how I was doing! I am so thankful for my teammates and am loving them more every day!
God has taught me a lot about contentment with the church building process as well. This past week there has not been that much to do at times and at first it was frustrating to just be sitting around doing nothing. But then God reminded me that the times that we are just sitting around are times to be building my team up and just getting to know more about them.
Through out this past week, God has shown me that I need to be finding my contentment and my joy in Him. Whether I am eating food that I like or not, whether I am back at home or in my tent, or sick or well. If God is truly where I find my contentment, nothing else should matter! It should not matter where I am or what I am doing, but doing it all for God’s glory and for His kingdom. Whether I am shoveling dirt, mixing up concrete, or just talking with my teammates- it is all for Him!
