If you have ever been in a foreign country for a long period of time, especially one in the th
ird world, and even more in Africa, then you will understand what I will be talking about in this blog!! Food is what you miss the most while being gone. I have never gotten an amazing cheeseburger like we have in America- oh I have tried and have gotten some pretty gross results. While we were in Nairobi I actually found one that was not too bad but nothing to write home about:)
So since being here in Busia, we have tried to make some things that you find in America 🙂 Some of them have been taking risks because you never know what will come of it! We have an oven here and we use it when we can (but somehow the power always tends to go off when we are cooking dinner and so goes the oven 🙂 ). So, we have successfully made brownies, chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls, pizza (which we actually made over 
charcoal the first we made it due to the power being off the whole night), flour tortillas ( they have cheese here!!!! So we have been having a weekly Mexican fiesta night with beans, rice, salsa, guacamole, and of course cheese!!!), flour tortilla chips, and even fried cheese bites. Last night I even 
made baked macaroni and cheese- nothing like home, but it is the closest we can get here! We have been pretty adventurous, but our results have been so yummy!!!
