Cambodia was my last month with my team, Plants and Pillars (never forget)!
Three of my favorite memories from this month aren’t included in the video so I want to share about them below:
1. Seven. May as well call him Lucky Seven because the Lord is definitely pursuing this man. Seven was not a student who lived at Lighthouse but heard from word of mouth that he could learn English for free by attending our class in the evening. He spoke excellent English but didn’t give himself near enough credit and always came to class prepared with some seriously prepared questions, some of them which we even had to look up and get back to him the next day (like when to use “have been” or “have gone”)! One night, we had almost no students show up because of a church service at the YWAM base and we considered cancelling class. The Lord have different plans. Seven and his friend Van Nut showed up and somehow we got on the subject of beliefs. Seven is Buddhist, but openly shared his beliefs and took an interest in ours. By the end of our month together, Jack had acquired an extra New Testament Bible and was more than happy to offer it to Seven, who gladly accepted his English copy (yay for learning English and salvation in the same resource!) I dont know what choices Seven will end up making but I am so glad we got to know him and help serve him last month. Please keep him in your prayers!
2. Girls Night! My last night at Lighthouse, the boys went out to play soccer and the ladies put on a “Beauty for Ashes” event. It was so incredible being able to work alongside the girls I had lived the last 4 months with to create a safe space for these young women to walk in vulnerability and freedom with a trusted community. We facilitated conversation about hurt, shame, grace, and forgiveness. We played games, ate cookies, painted nails and five girls made the decision to start walking in relationship with Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord for free will and hearts open to the Word of God.
3. Team changes! (Read my blog from the beginning of this month, “Directionally Challenged.”
