Training camp starts TOMORROW and I’m so excited… and nervous lol, but mostly excited! Tomorrow I finally get to meet everyone on my squad. There are 20 of us from all over the US and 1 from Canada. We’ve been talking through group texts, Facebook, etc. but tomorrow I’ll finally meet the people that will become my family over the next year. We have 18 girls and 2 guys (bless their hearts lol).
For the next 10 days we’ll be doing some serious bonding time in addition to some spiritual, emotional, and physical stretching. We will be sleeping in tents the whole time and only allowed to take bucket showers. By bucket showers I mean they give you a bucket with a gallon of water in it and you have to make it work. It’s going to get interesting lol. We will be trying foods from some of the countries we’ll be going to that we may or may not like. We’ll be put in situations that could potentially happen on the Race (ex. losing luggage and having to share with someone else until things get straightened out). Teaching and of course praise and worship will play a big part. We are also expected to hike 2 miles in the Georgia mountains with our full pack in 38 minutes. My squad will be there along with one other squad that’s also leaving in October but going on a different route. On the last day of camp we will have Squad Wars. I’m not sure what all that entails but since our team color is blue; I’m bringing blue clothes, blue hairspray, blue eye shadow, blue lipstick, blue eye black (think Braveheart lol) blue headbands and whatever other blue stuff I can come up with. Pics to follow. Did I mention I’m excited?! Other than that, I’m not sure what will happen but I’m expecting a lot of fun and surprises!
IN OTHER NEWS:
I’m currently at $12,050 raised in my Adventures in Missions account. I’ve spent probably $3,000 on gear/ travel related stuff, $671 on vaccinations, and still have $7,150 to raise. Whew! With that being said, thank you so much to everyone who has helped so far! Whether it’s been your time, money, or both, it has meant so much to me to see the different ways people have helped. God has even been using complete strangers to help, it’s amazing! The next fundraiser I’m doing is called Adopt-A-Box. In the picture below you’ll see a chart numbered 1-100. You can pick 1 or more boxes and whichever number/numbers you choose is what you’re committing to donate. If all the boxes are adopted, then I will have $5,050 raised towards my goal! Donations are tax deductible and you can give in a number of ways. The easiest way to give is to click the “Donate” button at the top right-hand side of this blog. You can give via debit card, credit card, or check. If you want to mail in a check you can send it to Adventures in Missions P.O. Box 742570, Atlanta, GA 30374-2570. When writing a check, please remember to put Janie Neill in the memo on the check or it won’t count towards my trip. Please message me on Facebook, email me at [email protected], or call/text 205-237-0869 when you decide on a number so I’ll know to mark that box out. Thank you so much for your help and please pray for me as I head to training camp tomorrow!
Team Motto:
To know Him and to make Him known!
Love you guys!
Janie
