Hey Guys!
My name is Janie Fortner and I am 18 years old. I am from Columbia, SC but am currently living in Rock Hill while attending Winthrop University. I am a first semester freshman and am loving college so far! My major is social work. As you might be able to guess from my major I love helping people. I really enjoy meeting and getting to know new people from all walks of life.
I was very involved in my church growing up. The idea of a relationship with Jesus fascinated me from a young age. As I grew so did my relationship with Jesus. It wasn’t until the end of high school that I truly decided I needed to live my life for Jesus and put him first in everything I do. When I was in High School I took an interest in children especially loving, teaching, and playing with them.
I went to a summer camp the summer after my Freshman year in high school and fell in love with it. It was a christian summer camp called Camp Fellowship. This is when I knew I needed to do something in my life that involved children. I applied to work at the camp for the summer of 2018 and got accepted. I have worked there for the last two summers and loved it so much. When you combine playing with kids all day and teaching about the Gospel you have the perfect combination.
Some things I enjoy doing are hanging out with friends and family, going on any kind of adventure, and Food (taco salad is the bomb.com!). I am going on a mission trip this summer to Southern Africa! I am beyond excited for what God is doing in my life now and will do in the future! Please pray for me as I start this journey.
