Traveling into Month 2

Leaving Albania was a bitter sweet thing. I personally like working with kids so what better place to get to do ministry than a kids camp. I already miss the kids, especially a few that really touched my heart. Other people we left were the camp staff, oh how sweet and wonderful they were to us. All of them will be memories and prayers that will continue on  with me on the race. Leaving Albania was also the beginning of our next adventure our next ministry, our next month.

Upon our departure my team only knew one thing, Team Talitha Cumi was heading to Serbia and two other teams were coming with us. The rest of the squad had ministry sites in Bulgaria for their month of ministry. Off we went in our bus. Off to Sophia Bulgaria. This was a 13 and a half hour drive, which actually didn’t seem that long after our almost 24 hour drive the month before. We arrived at Sophia around 8am.  I absolutely love that city! The streets were all cobblestone, the buildings were definitely all historical, and the people were all dressed to impress, like all of them. One wonderful and beautiful sight.

Upon arrival we found out we were going to join another team in doing “Unsung Heros” work for AIM in Serbia. A ministry where a team gets sent to a country to research and find more ministry contacts so future World Racers could be sent there to help. We spent our first night at a Hostel in Sophia Bulgaria. Day two we had received a call saying than AIM had found a ministry contact for us to go to but they needed one more day to iron out the details. So we spent morning two looking for another hostel because we only booked our room for one night and we actually needed it for two. Turns out our next “hostel” was actually a small hotel that was so cute and it cost about the same as our not so cute hostel. On day three all three teams who were to end up in Serbia packed up our bags and caught a bus to Niss Serbia. Funny story about our trip over to Serbia is that we took a 35 person bus that had sold 40 tickets for the trip. So guess what?! Yep 5 of us had to stand for the 4 hour bus ride. Oh yea and the kicker… all of our bags did not fit under the bus, so the the remaining 7 packs that did not fit had to be packed in the exit stairs in the back of the bus and a couple in the isle while the 5 stood next to them. It was quite a funny site. By now we are used to being put in unordinary situations.

We stayed in Niss for two days then our team caught a bus from Niss to Belgrade and from Belgrade to Zrenjanin. Then finally a taxi to our ministry site. We live in a small apartment in one of the church buildings.

This week we have been helping finish the construction of the inside of what will be the new youth rooms for the church. On Wednesday they had a worship that was so great to be a part of. So good to be able to feels Gods spirit no matter what language people praise him in. Now, on Sunday Pastor Jovica Popov has asked us to be a part of Sunday mass. We will likely have someone tell their testimony and maybe to a skit sing them something in English, we don’t know exactly just yet but we are excited about it.
