" For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit" – Acts 1:6
" 7It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses. In Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." – Acts 1:7-8
I am amazed at how every time I reach out to the Word for encouragement, or when God sees I need to be kept accountable or just reminded, he provides exactly what I need to keep me at my best. Today it was through a webcast. Acts 1 was the material and let me tell you, this was exactly what I needed to hear. I have been doubting myself in my ability to speak the word to people. Afraid I won't do it well enough. I have also been stressing about funding for the trip wondering how and when God will provide (he has been providing, but I guess not at the pace I would like :/). I have also been wondering about things that have recently been happening in my life. Wondering what it all means. What should I do? When? etc…
Then I received these words of encouragement that were also reminders of what the Lord does for us. Being baptized by the Holy Spirit?! Really Lord? The power of the Holy Spirit is what gave Jesus the ability to heal, to raise people from the dead and to explain the old testament. Now I am also given the same power to be his "witness" and spread his word "to the ends of the earth". Why I let myself forget this wonderful and amazing gift God gives is beyond me, but wow every time I hear it, it is as astonishing as the first.
Jesus Christ himself tells us in Acts 1:7 "It is not for you to know the times or dates the father has set by his own authority". Plain and simple, to the point. As humans like so much else we face in life, this becomes a very difficult and complicated task. Like I have mentioned before on my blog, this is one of my most difficult challenges. Something I am constantly having to remind myself, to had it over to God and not worry.
REMINDER:
It all starts and is done with the power of the Holy Spirit not with my own power.
Just as the angel Gabriel told Mary how she would bare a child while being a virgin.
"35The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will over shadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God….For nothing is impossible with God". Luke1:35
Praise Report!!!
