Saturday evening we had planned to cook a meal for this family just to bless them and show appreciation. They have been such a blessing to us this past week.

Earlier that afternoon as we are lounging around just enjoying the views of the little cozy mountain village, we were offered some beers, weed, and to play cards. Let me back up a bit. The previous night this group of people showed up in the villa next to ours. They were a group here celebrating. They were all around our age. So on Saturday afternoon one of the guys came over and invited us to drink a few beers and play some cards. He let us know they had weed as well if we were the smoking type. We politely declined the invitation. A little while later 2 of the girls got a conviction to go over there anyways. They were able to have some good conversations.
You are probably wondering how these two things go together. Well, after dinner we were sitting around and then one of the little girls wanted to play the with soccer/volley ball. Next thing you knew it was a courtyard event and people from all the villas around our little cabin were playing with us.
After our family left we played for a bit longer with our new friends. Then we went inside to do our team time and then go to bed. A few mins later we have one of the guys knocking on the door. They wanted to invite us over to eat with them. After a bit of discusion we decided we would finish up team time and then go over there. WE were excited for some meat. So that is what we did about an hour later we walk over and they serve us well.
At one point I look around and we are all in conversations about the race and our Ask The Lord (ATL) month. They were all attentive and asked questions. It was such a unique experience. It all happened because we decided to be a light in other wise dark place. This country is mainly Muslim. From what I have seen they are not the devout Muslims that we have come in contact with previously on the race.
The Lord has been amazing at placing people in our path right when we need them or even when we didn’t need them but giving us the opportunity to be a light. Please continue to pray for my team as we still have a few weeks to go in this month.
