Hey! So I am sure a lot of you are wondering what the alternative teaching certification program is about. So I figured I would just post a blog explaining more about this program.
Texas Teachers is an alternative certification program to help people who want to teach get certified to be in the classroom. This program can be a combination of fully online or blended; which is a blend of face-to-face and online instruction. I chose the fully online since I am on the field and would be returning to Florida after the race for a time.
This program allows you to be self paced. It also asks you to teach for 1 year at full salary and benefits. They sponsor your temporary certification and after you meet all requirements grant you full certification. This includes a recommendation from not only your principal and mentor teacher, but also a field supervisor associated with the program and the passing of all teacher certification exams.
The benefit of me starting this program now is that it allows me to make use of some of my downtime and be studding for exams I would need to take when I get back to the states.
I normally would not ask for money in times like this but I have found that when you are wanting to do something the Lord has put on your heart, it is better to ask other people to join and partner with you in it. Partnering with me can be done in more ways that just through money.
The majority cost of this program comes out of my paychecks once I am hired by a school. The initial enrollment fee is all I have to pay upfront in order to gain access the prerequisite training and study materials. This enrollment fee is $350. I could pay that on my own, but then I would not have any spending money for the rest of the race. So after prayer the Lord prompted me to invite you into this. That supporting me would not just be a race only journey, but it is allowing you to partner with me through the rest of my life. This is a new concept to me. I have lived in a mentality that I can and need to do everything on my own. But, that is not what the Lord wants out of our lives.
