Greetings from Cambodia!  After a seven hour bus ride, we stepped foot in beautiful Siem Reap Cambodia, which marks the second month of the World Race.  Already, I feel a deep connection to this place. The sights and sounds..the feelings..it’s captivating.

Siem Reap is a tourist hot spot due to Angkor Wat. There are Europeans floating around everywhere.  At night, the city comes alive due to the western influence of bars, coffee shops, massage parlors, and fine/street dining.   We are staying at an amazing YWAM base ten minutes from town. There are teams from all over the world staying here with us, and it has been so fun getting to know them. The base is located in a red light district. Karaoke bars, guest houses, and massage parlors are hot spots for prostitution and brothels.  Our base is literally surrounded by these places.

As far as our daily routine….

It’s week one, and our schedules have quickly filled up. Every morning, we get up to exercise, have breakfast, and then do worship/devotions.  My scheduled classes are in the morning, so I teach a basic typing/computer class and an English grammar/conversation class with my teammate Chelsea.  Teaching has proved quite the challenge. I am more thankful for my French teachers than ever. Teaching a second language requires crazy amounts of creativity and strategy.  It is definitely stretching, but I am so thankful to be here! We ride bikes to school every morning- which I adore! I hadn’t ridden a bike since I was ten, so that first ride to school was full of little girl giggles and squeals!

After teaching, I return to the base for lunch.  Then from there, I will begin work with an organization called White Doves, who help victims of human trafficking gain life skills and earn livelihood.  I am very excited about working here. I know God is on the move!

Thank you for your prayers for safety! Continue to pray that God’s love will surround the people and students we will be helping, and that his truth will penetrate their hearts. Many of the students do not know who Jesus is. Pray for opened hearts ready to hear the good news that is Christ Jesus! Pray for the women of White Doves- that I can be a servant and love on them and that healing will flow.  Pray for my team- that we can grow and be united in love. It’s hard developing community.  Pray that God will be glorified in this place. And lastly, pray for my support.  I still have a ways to go. I have been so overwhelmed by the amount of love, encouragement, and support I have received from all of you! Thank you!

Signing out from Siem Reap!
